Partnership working
Connexions is a nationwide organisation that is structured differently in each area so that the best possible service can be delivered in giving young people a successful transition into adulthood. The Connexions Hertfordshire service operates through partner organisations in order to best respond to the particular needs of young people in the county, and to meet key government targets.
A major target is the reduction in the number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET). Despite having one of the toughest NEET targets in the country, Connexions Hertfordshire has met the challenge, with a 6% reduction in three years.
The lead body is Hertfordshire County Council, and the consortium partners are key representative bodies from the education, health, employment, careers, law enforcement, voluntary and commercial sectors. Young people are also strongly represented in the governance of Connexions Hertfordshire.
