How to become a Connexions PA in Hertfordshire

 
The Qualification Route:


The NEW qualification route for all Connexions Personal Advisers is the new level 4 NVQ ¡n Learning, Development and Support Services for children, young people and those who care for them (LDSS NVQ). Training is provided by Connexions Hertfordshire for all new Personal Advisers, using either the professional discussion route or portfolio route.

The LDSS NVQ consists of:

     - 6 core units + 2 optional pathway units+ 3 additional units
     - Total of 11 units.

Are you interested in joining Connexions, and already have a relevant level 4 NVQ or the PA Diploma?
This will give you evidence towards the new LDSS NVQ.


Are you interested in joining Connexions and you do not have a relevant qualification?
A Foundation Degree in Learning, Development and Support Services for Children, Young People and those who care for them is being developed and offered by some Universities. The Open University is offering the following qualifications:

A Foundation Degree in Working with Young People:
There are five courses which will make up the Foundation Degree in Working with Young People.

A Certificate in Working with Young People:
Two courses make up this qualification.

And you need to gain experience of working with young people.

You could do this by becoming a Connexions Volunteer Mentor, working with young people aged 13 to 19. Interested? Contact Lyn Robertson, Mentor Co-ordinator on  01992 531970.

Core Units:

1. Evaluate the risk of abuse, failure to protect and harm
To self and others
2. Evaluate and develop own contribution to the service
3. Develop interactions with clients
4. Develop and sustain arrangements for joint working
And agencies
5. Promote and maximise educational opportunities and achievements for individual
6. Ensure personal safety and security


Optional Pathway units:

10. Assist clients to decide on a course of action
11. Assist clients to plan the implementation of a course of action


Additional Units:

14. Manage Personal Case Load
16. Involve Children and young people in the management
And delivery of service provision
35. Enable group learning
41. Assist clients to review their achievement of a course of Action
