Gap Year Opportunities

Young people may be interested in taking a gap year to travel, do voluntary work, earn money, gain experience in the world of work or a combination of these activities. A gap year can be a positive experience, helping to broaden horizons and develop confidence.

Young people who are entering Higher Education and have already decided on a course can ask for deferred entry either when applying (but should check first that deferred entry is acceptable) or after they have received their offers. If they do not wish to commit themselves to a course prior to a gap year, they can apply in the normal way a year later - but they need to be contactable and available for interviews.
