Help and support for all 13 to 19 year olds

Young People's Entitlement Charter

This charter has been developed by young people, for young people. It explains what young people in Hertfordshire can expect from the Connexions Service. It also explains how young people can get involved in the Connexions service.

Access

All young people aged between 13-19 years will have the right to see a Personal Adviser.

Connexions Hertfordshire will be available to young people through schools, colleges, work places, in the local community and at one stop shops in some locations across the county.

Young people are entitled to a Personal Adviser who:
  • Is professional, easy to get on with, friendly and relaxed
  • Gives support and impartial advice
  • Is non-judgmental, understands their moods and listens to them
Information, Advice, Support and Guidance

Connexions Hertfordshire offers young people:
  • The opportunity to get information, advice, support and guidance about careers, education, training, employment and other issues to help them make informed decisions
  • Help and support when they need to make contact with other organisations and services
Trust and Confidentiality

The Connexions Service has a confidentiality policy that all staff work to.

  • The boundaries around confidentiality will be explained to young people by their PA
  • Connexions services are offered in places where young people feel safe and where their privacy is respected
  • Relationships between Personal Advisers and young people are based on mutual trust and respect
  • Any confidential comments, suggestions and complaints are taken seriously and acted upon

Involvement

Connexions Hertfordshire will involve young people in planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating the service. Young people will be given the opportunity to judge how effective they feel the service is at doing what it has set out to do.

Connexions Hertfordshire will ensure that:

  • Publicity about the Connexions service will be available in the community as well as at schools and colleges so that all young people have the opportunity to use the service
  • Young people have the opportunity to give feedback on the service on a regular basis through small groups and conferences
  • The management board includes a number of young people
  • Young people are involved in the recruitment and selection of personal advisers
Connexions Hertfordshire aim to involve young people in all aspects of the service.
